Southport Town Hall is a civic building, which means a short ceremony, a tight room and a registrar who sets the rules. None of that is a problem. It just means the photography has to be quick, quiet and planned, rather than directed.
I am a wedding photographer based in Ormskirk, about twenty minutes from Southport, so this is home ground and travel is included. My approach is natural and candid. In a room like this that is not a style choice so much as the only approach that works.
A real wedding at Southport Town Hall
Adam and Shaz married at Southport Town Hall in September 2024, then moved on to the Peaky Blinders Bar for an intimate reception. They booked full day coverage and received 1,169 images.

What to know about photographing here
Town hall ceremonies are short. Twenty minutes, sometimes less, with no rehearsal and no second take. Most registrars will allow photographs from a fixed position during the ceremony and some restrict it to the vows and the signing. Ask when you book, and tell your photographer the answer.
The real opportunity in Southport is what is around the building. Lord Street, the gardens and the seafront are all close, which means you can have proper couple portraits without a long drive eating into your day. If the weather is against you, the building itself has enough architecture to carry the portraits indoors.

Coverage and cost
Ceremony is £350 and covers up to three hours, from guest arrivals through to the group photos. Half Day Coverage is £649 and runs up to five hours, from guest arrivals through to the speeches. Full Day is £999 and covers up to ten hours, from getting ready to the first dance.
